IBON Survey: Filipinos think raising workers’ wages should be govt’s top concern

From gov.ph

In research group IBON’s latest survey, Filipinos top-ranked raising workers’ wages among the most important concerns that government should address. Meaningful and gainful livelihood and improvement of social services emerged as second and third top concerns, respectively.

Survey respondents were presented with a list of primary national concerns. These included upholding economic sovereignty, nationalization of industries, raising workers’ wages, meaningful and gainful livelihood, improvement of social services, maintaining peace and order, genuine agrarian reform, sufficient support for agriculture, and appropriate utilization and protection of natural resources and the environment.

Asked which among these they consider the three most important that the Duterte administration should address, 31.8% ranked raising workers’ wages as a top concern followed by the creation of meaningful and gainful livelihood (19%) and improvement of social services (education, health, housing; 14%).

IBON’s September 2016 National Opinion Survey was conducted among 1,505 respondents across all regions nationwide from September 1-12. It employed multi-stage probability sampling and field interviews and has a plus or minus 3% margin of error.
